At Makybe Rise Primary School we believe in fostering community connections and encouraging students to think of others not as fortunate as themselves.
Since 2014, Staff and students have supported Homeless Connect by donating the items most in need by the homeless, such as food, clothing and toiletries during the yearly Homeless Connect goods collection.
Our school has also participated in the local Christmas Appeal run by the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul that supports vulnerable members of our community.
We have helped individuals in other countries by lending money through Kiva. Kiva loans money to individuals and groups who wish to create opportunities for themselves by creating businesses or furthering their education to realise their potential.
In addition, Makybe Rise Staff have regularly been allowed to wear jeans on Fridays in return for a gold coin donation. These donations are given to carefully selected charities. This year, we have supported CDH Australia (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia), Head Space Rockingham and we have also donated to Derek Rijnhart’s memory walk to help raise awareness of dementia and alzheimers.
